  College Requirements

If you're at this site, you're most likely a high school student. As such, you realize something very important: There's a thing known as an education, and we all need one. In fact, it's rather hard to survive WITHOUT one in this rapidly changing world. But, most likely, you're completely in the dark about where to go. Purdue? Harvard? Jackson Community College? The simple answer is: the one which is best for you.

To help you find this mythical "perfect fit" college, we've compiled samples of admissions requirements from Princeton, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Lansing Community College, Lexington Community College, and ASA Institute of Business and Computer Technology. Don't be surprised to notice similarities between the state schools and the Ivy League.


Princeton Admission Requirements:

  • Four years of English
  • Four years of math
  • Four years of the same foreign language
  • At least two years of a lab science
  • At least two years of history
  • Art, music, and a second foreign language are recommended
  • The SAT, three SAT IIs, and the ACT can be substituted for the SAT if all of applicant's other schools require the ACT


Vanderbilt Admission Requirements:

  • Four years of English
  • Two years of Algebra
  • 1 year of plane Geometry
  • Two years of the same foreign language
  • Two years of science
  • Two years of a social science
  • Additional units in the above are recommended.


Arizona State University Admission Requirements:

  • Four years of English OR a 21 on the ACT English section (530 SAT verbal)
  • Four years of math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and an advanced math class for which Algebra II is a prerequisite) OR a 24 ACT/540 SAT
  • One year each of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics OR a 20 on the ACT science
  • One year U.S. History, one year of another Social Science
  • Two years of the same foreign language
  • One year of a fine art
  • Top quarter class rank OR ACT of 22 OR SAT of 1040 OR a 3.0 GPA (4.0=A).


Lansing (MI) and Lexington (KY) Community Colleges:
Both community college have open admissions to adult high school graduates.

ASA Institute of Business and Computer Technology:
This vo-tech school also has open admissions to high school graduates.
